About Me

You shouldn’t have to hand over your investments to get good advice.

Hi, I’m Paulo Lopes, an environmental attorney turned CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional. I built Woodmont Financial Partners for people who want a clear strategy they can actually use, without sales pressure.

A lot of the people I work with are DIY investors, high earners, and business owners who want an objective second set of eyes and a plan that fits real life.

WHAT WE WORK ON

• Tax strategies: multi-year planning, “what to do this year” decisions, withholding and estimated tax planning, Roth conversion strategy.

• Retirement planning: work-optional planning, cash flow, Social Security timing, and drawdown strategy.

• Estate planning coordination: beneficiary alignment, coordination with your attorney on trusts/POAs/guardianship, and tax-aware decisions.

• Investments: asset allocation, implementation for DIY investors, a rebalancing approach, and “what goes where” for tax efficiency. If values matter to you, I can also incorporate client-directed ESG/SRI screens and priorities.

• Small business and real estate decisions: planning around cash flow and taxes, plus entity and compensation questions to take to your CPA and attorney.

HOW WE WORK TOGETHER

We meet virtually, and in person when it makes sense. You can implement the plan yourself, or we can keep working together as life changes. We’ll start with a short intro call, and if it’s a fit, I’ll outline scope and the next step.

Based in Arizona, working with clients nationwide.

Mission Statement

My goal is simple: to give you objective, tax-aware financial planning without conflicts, so you can make confident decisions, stay in control, and build a life that fits you.

I value clarity, transparency, fiduciary responsibility, and practicality. Your plan is meant to be used, not filed away.

Why I Became an Advisor

For over twenty years, friends and family have come to me with financial and estate planning questions. I became a financial planner because too many people make major decisions with incomplete information, or with advice that has strings attached. Serving on my employer’s retirement plan committee showed me how much better outcomes can be when fees are lower and investment options are designed around people, not products.

Woodmont Financial Partners is the firm I wish existed back then: advice-only planning billed hourly or as a flat fee, with no commissions, product sales, or AUM fees.
